The Restoration

In 1926, the Reverend Dr. W.A.R.Goodwin, rector of Bruton Parish Church, shared his dream of restoring Williamsburg to its colonial-era appearance with philanthropist John D.Rockefeller Jr. Soon after, the Restoration of the city began. The black and white photographs included here show Williamsburg before, during, and just after the Restoration. All are included in the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Library's Visual Resources Collections.
